What it does

Paint correction

  1. 01

    What it removes

Wash swirls, haze, water spot etching and light scratches. Deep scratches that go through the clear coat are a different repair.

  2. 02

    Before anything is sealed

Whatever is in the paint when film or coating goes on stays there. Correction comes first.

  3. 03

    Judged car by car

How much polishing a car needs depends on its paint and its history. We look at it before quoting.

How far it goes

One step or two.

Paint correction is only available together with a Level 1 or Level 2 ceramic coating.

01 of 02

One step

A single stage of machine polishing after the paint is decontaminated.

  • Paint decontamination
  • 1-step polishing
How we do it

Evaluate first, then correct.

Every job starts with a look at the paint to decide how much correction it needs, whether the car is new or has years on it.

Cutting, buffing and polishing then remove swirls, scratches, oxidation and stains. The paint is left ready for a ceramic coating or film.

Offered at Millstone and Ocean Township.

Why it is worth it

What paint correction gets you

  1. 01

Ideal Before Ceramic Coatings and PPF

As mentioned, paint correction is essential before applying ceramic coatings or paint protection film. Without this process, existing swirl marks, scratches, and other defects will remain trapped under the top layer, diminishing the vehicle’s final appearance. By correcting the paint first, Buff & Beyond ensures a flawless surface that allows ceramic coatings and PPF to bond properly, delivering maximum protection and visual appeal.

  2. 02

    Removes Swirl Marks and Scratches

Swirl marks and fine scratches are some of the most common clear coat imperfections that reduce a vehicle’s overall shine. These types of clear coat marks often result from improper washing and drying techniques, as well as exposure to environmental contaminants and threats on the road. Our expert paint correction services at Buff & Beyond eliminate these issues by carefully leveling the clear coat through precise cutting and polishing techniques. The result is a smoother, glossier finish that enhances the vehicle’s color depth and clarity.

  3. 03

Customized to the Needs of Your Vehicle

Every vehicle’s paint condition is unique, which is why Buff & Beyond customizes each paint correction service to match the needs of the vehicle. Whether your vehicle requires a light polishing to remove minor defects or a more intensive multi-stage correction process to address deeper imperfections, we tailor our approach to achieve the best results. Our goal is to bring out the highest level of gloss and clarity, ensuring your vehicle looks stunning before receiving a ceramic coating or PPF package.

  4. 04

    Professional Techniques and Industry Expertise

At Buff & Beyond, we utilize industry-leading techniques and professional-grade equipment to deliver superior paint correction results overall. Our process involves precise cutting work, buffing, and polishing methods that effectively remove surface imperfections without compromising the integrity of the paint. We are committed to providing a level of expertise that ensures your vehicle’s finish achieves its highest potential in terms of gloss, depth, and clarity.

Myths

Three things people get wrong.

Open each one to read what is true.

Myth 01The fact Paint correction can remove deep scratches from painted panels

Paint correction is highly effective in eliminating swirl marks, fine scratches, and other minor imperfections that exist within the clear coat of your vehicle’s painted panels. However, it cannot remove deep scratches that have penetrated beyond the clear coat into the base paint or primer. If a scratch is deep enough to catch your fingernail when you run it over the surface, it is likely beyond the capabilities of paint correction alone. In such cases, additional touch-up work, spot repairs, or even repainting may be necessary to restore the paint properly.

Myth 02The fact New vehicles do not need paint correction

Many people assume that a brand-new vehicle has flawless paint, but this is often not the case. During transportation, storage, or dealership handling, vehicles can develop surface imperfections such as light swirl marks, buffer trails, or contamination in the clear coat. Even factory-applied paint jobs may have inconsistencies that affect the overall finish. At Buff & Beyond, every vehicle is carefully inspected, regardless of age, to determine whether paint correction is needed before applying ceramic coatings or paint protection film.

Myth 03The fact Paint correction is a permanent solution

While paint correction dramatically enhances a vehicle's paintwork by removing surface imperfections, it is not a one-time, permanent fix. Over time, improper washing techniques, exposure to environmental elements, and general wear and tear can introduce new swirl marks and fine scratches. Without proper maintenance, such as hand washing with a high-quality mitt and using the two-bucket method, the finish can degrade again. To preserve the results long-term, protective measures like paint protection film is highly recommended.

Asked in the bay

Questions owners ask

Will paint correction remove every scratch?

It removes what sits in the clear coat: swirls, haze and light scratches. A scratch you can catch with a fingernail has usually gone deeper than polishing can safely reach. We point those out before we start.

Is paint correction safe for my paint?

Yes, when it is done in measured stages. Polishing removes a very thin layer of clear coat, so we take off only what the defects require.

How do I keep the swirls from coming back?

Most swirls come from washing. A ceramic coating leaves the surface slick and easier to wash gently, which is why correction here is paired with a coating.
